There is big buzz brewing in the industry. At the recent ERA Great Ideas Summit in Miami, we held an educational session entitled, “How to Improve Your Better Business Bureau Rating.” The panel was introduced by ERA board member, Phil Smith, President of Response, who sponsored this important effort.
Panelists included Rod Davis, President BBB Southeast Florida & the Caribbean, Peter Marinello, Director of ERSP, and Steve Thorne, CEO Paradigm Direct, and Venable LLP Partner, Jeff Knowles, as moderator.
Together they explored the difficulty for businesses to figure out how local BBBs derive company ratings. Further discussion included how to then engage with local BBBs to address outstanding issues and resolve them before regulators from the Federal Trade Commission or State Attorneys General keyed in on issues for enforcement activity. For many, adverse BBB scores have the potential to affect millions of dollars in lost business and legal heartache.
The panel was a hit. If you were not able to join us I have good news...
Based on the feedback from our audience, we plan on including a follow-up panel during our popular Government Affairs Fly-In and ERSP Summit coming up on May 23, 2018, in Washington, D.C. Here is a link to the event landing page where you can find out more as we add more panelists and speakers.
As you probably know by now, we tend to have a strong line up of attendees from the FTC, ERSP, and Congress. I would encourage you to plan on attending especially if you haven’t had the chance to go in the past.
This year, our plans are for an event that is better than ever. One big part of that is our ongoing outreach to the BBB on ratings and accreditation as well as the potential for collaboration on shared guidance documentation for the industry.
It would be great if you could join us for this important conversation about the future of our industry. If you are unable to make it, stay tuned, momentum is building to create ways for businesses to have guidance on how to become marketers and corporate citizens. In the end, we all win when the marketplace is vibrant and safe for consumers and competitors alike. For more information about the upcoming fly-in or to participate at a sponsor level - please contact Bill McClellan at email@example.com.
